In loving memory of Robert Emory Creel.

Robert Emory Creel passed away early Jan. 2, 2021 from complications of the COVID virus at the age of 84. He was born Oct. 6, 1936 to Robert Elijah Creel and Naomi (Patrick) Creel and was a lifelong resident of Hanceville.

After graduating from Hanceville High School, he began a 42-year career with the railroad, first working for the L&N and retiring from CSX. Robert had a love for trains that began when he was a boy working in the fields in White City near the railroad tracks. This continued through his life when he was known to carry grandkids to excellent vantage points to see trains crossing.

Robert had a love for his hometown and served two terms on the city council. In 1988, Robert and Linda relocated to Jacksonville, Florida for work, but Robert did not feel at home until he was able to relocate back to Hanceville upon retirement in 1998. After his retirement, he was an avid gardener and active member at church and loved his church family dearly.

Mr. Creel is survived by his wife Linda of 53 years; two sons Clint (Kristi) and Jon (Kim) Creel; grandchildren Warren, Emily, Katie, and Zella; sister Ruth Brigham; brother Don (Wanda) Creel; sister-in-law Frances Creel; and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers E.O. Creel and Leo Creel; and sister Bonnie Waldrop.

Services will be announced at a later time by the family.
