GOOD HOPE – It was a tough afternoon for the Good Hope Raiders when they took the diamond against the visiting J.B. Pennington Tigers. The visitors snagged the first baserunner of the game in the form of Wilson’s two-out triple but they could not capitalize as the following batter flew out to center.
Good Hope went three up, three down in the bottom of the first and neither team could scratch across a run in the second, but the floodgates opened for Pennington in the third. They would send 11 men to the plate, scoring six. The hit parade was led by Alexander with a big double and picking up two RBIs. Griffin and Cleveland also picked up RBIs in the inning.
Good Hope scored their first of three runs in the fourth when Hancock came home on a throwing error by the Pennington catcher.
Pennington would add two runs in the fifth and three more in the seventh, while White and Creel would score for Good Hope in the bottom of the seventh making the final score 11-3 in favor of the Pennington Tigers.
