Anthony Gene Yates, 52, of Holly Pond passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020. He was born June 28, 1968 in Marshall County, to Donald Gene Yates and Gladys Louise Arrington.
Mr. Yates enjoyed football and the outdoors. Before his retirement, Anthony worked as a dog catcher for the City of Huntsville. He was full of mischief and was always causing “trouble.” Anthony was a son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a friend. His joy came in spending time with his grandchildren and he loved being their “Papa.”
Mr. Yates is survived by his father Donald Gene Yates; mother Gladys Louise Arrington Carr; daughters Jennifer (Jimmy) Bedsole; Laura (Garrett) Totcky; brothers Kevin (Tara) Yates, Brian (Cassie) Carr; sister Glendia Breaux; godson Damen Guthrie; grandchildren Christopher Bedsole, Luke Bedsole, Drew Bedsole, Layla Totcky; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Yates are at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020 at Union Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church; Dr. David Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Phil White, Chris Culp, Eric Arrington, Jason Arrington, Damen Guthrie, Christopher Bedsole, Tony Arrington, and Glenn Arrington will serve as pallbearers. Friends may visit with the family Sunday, Dec. 13 at the church, beginning at 1 p.m.
