JONES CHAPEL, Ala. – A two-vehicle wreck claimed the life of one man Tuesday afternoon in Cullman County. The incident happened at the intersection of County Roads 1107 and 1114 in the Jones Chapel community at approximately 2:30.

Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick identified the victim as Oather Lee Phillips, 88, of Hanceville.

Alabama State Troopers said Oather was killed when the 2020 Toyota Tacoma he was operating ran a stop sign and was struck by a 2000 Kenworth T800.  Oather, who was not using his seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Kenworth was not injured.

The roadway was closed for more than three hours.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
