On Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020, Kathleen Dellaccio, a loving wife and mother of four children, passed away at the age of 70.

Kathleen was born Dec. 16, 1949 in Mobile, Alabama to Vernon and Vida Blackwell. She was raised in the Mobile area until seventh grade when her family moved to Atmore, Alabama. It is there that she met her husband Doug Dellaccio, Sr. The couple married in December of 1967. Kathleen and Doug later moved to the Birmingham area where they raised their four children Doug, Jr., Charles, Angela, and Laci.

Kathleen’s greatest joys centered around being a wife, a mother, and for the last 23 years, a dedicated grandmother. Kathleen instilled a strong foundation of faith in her children. She was a homemaker and a fierce ally for her entire family. Her focus was on raising her children and being the best “Baba” that could have existed. You could find her at many a dance recital or ball field joyfully cheering on her grandchildren.

Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Vida Blackwell.

Kathleen is survived by her husband Doug Dellaccio, Sr.; her children Doug, Jr. (Nicole) Dellaccio, Charles Dellaccio, Angela Dellaccio, and Laci (Justin) Schuman; her grandchildren Douglas III and Elise Dellaccio, Haley, Charlie and Hannah Dellaccio, James and Joseph Greene, and Bailey and Logan Schuman; her siblings Danny Blackwell, Buddy Blackwell, and Shannon Blackwell; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID precautions, the family will hold a private celebration of life for Kathleen at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood, Alabama Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to the UAB Coronavirus Response Support Fund www.uab.edu/fightcovid19/impact/medicine-fund.
