Dec. 1 COVID-19 update: Record statewide hospitalizations

CULLMAN, Ala. –  According to the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), Cullman County added 48 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, with 3,369 cases confirmed across the county since the beginning of the pandemic. Of those, 844 were confirmed in just the last 14 days. Statewide, the ADPH reported 2,014 new confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, with 32,670 in the last 14 days. However, a note on the ADPH COVID-19 Data and Surveillance Dashboard Tuesday said, “Case counts and deaths reported on today’s update are high. Today’s increase represents a delay in reporting to the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) due to the holiday weekend.”

The ADPH also reported a record high 1,785 patients currently hospitalized across the state, the most since it reported 1,717 Nov. 30, 2020 and 1,613 Aug. 6, 2020.
