Barbara Ann (Pitts) Hicks, 83, of Haleyville, AL passed away Nov. 23. She has joined the love of her life, Jackie Ray Hicks. They’ve been separated for seven years and are now together. Both without pain and made whole. She was born to Perry and Rena Mae (Taylor) Pitts Oct 14, 1937 in Montgomery, Alabama.

She was loved by many and will be missed by her family and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and sister Enoch Rathel, John Pitts, Herrel Pitts, Roy Pitts, and Harriett Sue Berdeaux.

She is survived by her five children Clifford (Sharon) Hicks of Cabot, AR, Anthony (Monika) Hicks of Illertissen, Germany, Ramona (Cecil) Willis of Fort Smith, AR, Tracy Lauderdale of Haleyville, AL, and Tammy (Joe) Hulsey, also of Haleyville. She had 14 grandchildren: Amy (James) Lang, Jennifer (Daniel) Menden, Ryan Hicks, Louisia Hicks, Jessica (Steffen) Rauhut, Emily Hicks, Ellen (Jeremy) Godsey, Lisa (John) Gladden, Justin Lauderdale, Samantha (Michael) Parker, Wenona (Daniel) Mertins, Chrissy (Bryan) Henderson, Johnathon (Megan) Gay, and Megan (Mark) Rickard. She had 22 grea- grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother and sister Jerrel Pitts and Wanda (Mike) Tanner; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She loved to go on cruises and to travel. She was proud that she was able to go on 15 cruises and went to Germany twice. She loved going to the Senior Center to enjoy a meal and on some trips with her friends. She was involved in the Double Springs Civitan Club for several years. She and Jack owned a ceramics business and chicken house for almost 30 years. With Jack having a career in the Air Force, they lived in many different states and on Okinawa before settling in Haleyville. She never knew a stranger and she talked to everyone. She loved to play with her grandkids and great grandkids.

Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs. The graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Winston Memorial Cemetery in Haleyville.

Pallbearers will be TJ Savage, Gavin Godsey, Logan Godsey, Justin Lauderdale, Joseph Pitts and Anthony Weeks. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Godsey, Ryan Hicks, and Dewayne Pitts.
