SYLACAUGA – On Sunday, March 6, the Miss Alabama's Outstanding Teen 2016 pageant was held at B.B. Comer Memorial High School. Cullman’s Brooke Edwards, a junior at Cullman High School, was named third runner-up.
Edwards was awarded a total of $66,700 in college scholarships, including a $500 cash scholarship, an $8,000 Auburn University scholarship, an $8,000 University of Alabama stipend, a $14,000 University of Montevallo scholarship, an Auburn University Achievement Scholarship ($2,000 for four years) and Troy University Chancellor’s Scholarship ($32,000 over four years).
Tiara Pennington, a 17-year-old junior at Helena High School, was crowned Miss Alabama's Outstanding Teen 2016. She received a total of $186,780 in scholarships. First runner-up was Auburn High School’s Jessica Baeder, who received a total of $30,000 in scholarships.
Second runner-up Charity Bowden of Hooper Academy received a total of $30,000 in scholarships. Finally, fourth runner-up, Lindsay Fincher, a student at Handley High School received a total of $92,000 in scholarships.
Top ten semifinalists included Caitlyn McTier of Sylacauga, Annie Ozment of Childersburg, Katie Zeigler of Smiths Station, Kyra Callens of Birmingham and Katelyn Richard of Hoover.
