Funeral services for James Garvie Bennefield, 91, of Hanceville will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020 at the Hanceville Funeral Home chapel, with Rev. Paul Rivers and Brother Larry Craig officiating. Interment will follow at New Home Cemetery in Holly Pond. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Bennefield passed away Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020 at the Hanceville Nursing Home. He was born June 18, 1929 in Joppa to William Noah and Nora Kritner Bennefield.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Dimple Bonds Bennefield and second wife Frances Green Bennefield; grandson Jim Bennefield; stepson Boyd Mason; seven brothers James Henry, Seabern, Russ, Jim, Leroy, Thomas Earl and Clentie Bennefield; and six sisters Hattie Mae Bennefield, Etta Allred, Elsie Miller, Daisy Weaver, Annie Bannister and Lorene Creel.
He enjoyed farming and was the owner/operator of Hanceville Movers for over 30 years.
He is survived by sons Jimmy (Shirley) Bennefield, Rev. Johnny (Terri) Bennefield, and stepson Rick (Latrell) Mason; daughters Judy (Dennis) Wilson, Kathy (Wayne) Sandlin, Glenda (Robert) Perry, and stepdaughter Hilda Dover; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; special companion Jeannie Robertson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
