PREP FOOTBALL: Pinson Valley eliminates Arab in opening round 45-0

PINSON VALLEY, Ala. – Arab hit the road for the opening round of the 6A state playoffs Friday night and the Knights ran into a very strong Pinson Valley team. After falling behind the Indians early, Arab was never able to bounce back and the 2020 season came to an end for the Knights with a 45-0 loss at Pinson Valley.

A 29-yard touchdown run in the opening quarter gave the Indians a 7-0 lead going into the start of the second quarter and they continued to extend their lead. A 35-yard touchdown pass made it a 14-0 game early in the second, and by halftime, Pinson Valley had pulled ahead to take a 24-0 lead.

The Indians scored again early in the third quarter to stretch the lead to 31-0 and tacked on two more scores in the third to take a 45-0 advantage into the final frame. Neither team got on the board in the fourth quarter and the Indians held on to win it 45-0, earning a trip to the next round and eliminating the Knights from postseason contention. The loss gives Arab a 5-6 record to finish the 2020 season.
