FAIRVIEW, Ala. – Holly Pond made the short trip to Fairview to renew its rivalry with the Aggies Friday night but Fairview put things out of reach for the Broncos early, leading the way 42-0 at halftime and pulling away to win it 56-16. The win over the Broncos makes the Aggies 9-1 on the season with their only loss coming to on the road to one of the top-ranked teams in Class 5A.

Holly Pond was forced to punt on its opening possession and the high-powered Fairview offense went to work. Just a few plays later, Aggies quarterback Parker Martin scored with his legs from 11 yards out to make it a 7-0 game. Another three and out gave the ball right back to the Aggies and it only took them a few more snaps to extend their lead. Eli Frost capped off the scoring drive with a 1-yard touchdown run and the extra point made it 14-0 with just under a minute to play in the first quarter.

The momentum continued for the Aggies in the second quarter. Eli Speegle picked off a Holly Pond pass and the Aggies took over possession near midfield. This time Martin scored through the air, connecting with Speegle from 15 yards out to tack on another touchdown and make it 21-0 early in the second. Fairview continued to make plays on the defensive side of the ball. J.T. White intercepted a pass on the next Broncos’ drive and returned it all the way to the 4-yard line to set up the Aggies with first and goal. On the next play, Frost scored his second touchdown of the night the give Fairview a 28-0 lead midway through the second quarter.

A turnover on downs ended the next Holly Pond possession and the Aggies’ took advantage with another touchdown drive. Martin scored on the ground for the second time, this time from 22 yards out to stretch the lead to 35-0 with just under five minutes to play in the half but the scoring didn’t stop there for Fairview. Speegle made another defensive play on the ensuing possession, pulling down another interception one-handed and running it back 35 yards for the touchdown. The pick-six made it a 42-0 game late in the second quarter and that was the score when both teams went into the locker room at the halftime break.

The Broncos got off to a solid start in the third quarter, forcing a turnover on downs to get off the field defensively and driving down the field looking to cut into the lead. The scoring drive was capped off by a 1-yard touchdown keeper by quarterback Austin Marsh and the two-point conversion run from Andrew Bell made it a 42-8 game with just over four minutes remaining in the third. However, the Aggies got those points back on their ensuing possession when Martin hit White for a 9-yard touchdown pass that put Fairview on top 49-8 with less than two minutes remaining in the third quarter.

The Aggies tacked on another six points almost immediately when Michael Chambers picked off another Holly Pond pass and returned it 35 yards for another pick six. The extra point made it 56-8 late in the third quarter.

The Broncos got on the board again when Bell burst through a hole up the middle and scored from 37 yards out to trim the lead to 56-16 but that was all Holly Pond would muster offensively and Fairview held on to win it 56-16 and finish the season with an impressive, 9-1 mark.

Martin finished with a pair of touchdowns on the ground and through the air, one to Speegle and one to White. Frost led the Aggies with 67 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in the win, followed by Jameson Goble who added 44 yards on five carries.
