CULLMAN, Ala. – Representatives from Jack Aces on Friday presented the Cullman Police Department’s Shop with a Cop program a check for $11,755, money raised at the sixth annual Jack Aces Bike & Car Show at Depot Park in September.

Cullman Police Sgt. Adam Clark accepted the check on behalf of the program and presented Jack Aces President Derrick Barton and Jamie Carpenter a wooden Thin Blue Line flag handcrafted by Officer Brian Medlock.

Despite the Jack Aces having to postpone its bike and car show due to COVID-19, this year’s event saw the club’s largest turnout.

Said Barton, “We had a record turnout. There was a minute there when if we had five more cars show up, we would have had a problem. It was a lot of work but a lot of fun, and we were able to raise a record amount for this important cause.”

Clark thanked Barton and Carpenter for their continuing support of the Shop with a Cop program, saying, “We appreciate y’all. If it weren’t for y’all, we wouldn’t be able to do half of the things we do. We’ve had so many of our community events canceled this year.”

Shop with a Cop provides Christmas for less fortunate children, nursing home residents and the Margaret Jean Jones Center. Each year, children are able to shop with an officer, promoting positive interactions and relationships with law enforcement.

“That’s really why it was started,” said Clark, “so we could have a good relationship with the kids. Each year we usually get a list from a local nursing home and shop for them, too.”
