CULLMAN, Ala. – A group of students at Cullman High School decided to make the most of their abridged homecoming activities and raise funds for Cullman Caring for Kids, presenting assistant director Nancy Bryant a check for $476 Tuesday afternoon.

Tonja Grace at Cullman Caring for Kids shared via social media Tuesday:

“As we all know, Covid has taught us a ‘new normal.’ Due to changes in Cullman High School homecoming activities, a few seniors got together and decided to have a fundraiser Powder Puff game. The proceeds raised were graciously donated to the Cullman Caring for Kids/United Way food bank. It was our pleasure to meet such nice and respectful young men, who stepped up and served the community in a positive way. It is because of young people like you that we look forward to the future.”

Later in the afternoon, Bryant told The Tribune, “To me, it was amazing that young people think outside the box. They are making a difference in our community by doing the things that are just so creative. It really is amazing to see these young people step up and care about people that are hungry.”

Grace added, “It makes my heart happy to see students giving back to the community.”
