WINFIELD, Ala. – Holly Pond hit the road for its latest region matchup Thursday night and ran into a tough Winfield Pirates squad. After falling behind early, the Broncos were unable to keep pace with Winfield and the Pirates pulled away to take the game 49-8.

The Pirates jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the opening quarter, but Holly Pond responded with a score of its own that trimmed the deficit to 21-8 in the second. However, Winfield was able to make up the lost ground on the scoreboard and pull ahead 35-8 before the halftime break.

The Pirates continued to pull away in the second half, finding the end zone two more times to extend the lead to 49-8 and send the Broncos home with a region loss.

Holly Pond will be on the road again next week to take on Susan Moore.
