CULLMAN, Ala. – The Regulators MC North Alabama Chapter will host a benefit ride this Saturday morning Oct. 10 to raise money for 2-year-old Athan Landman. Athan received a new liver last October after doctors found a large tumor on his liver when he was just 6 months old. All proceeds from Saturday’s event will help the family with ongoing medical and travel expenses.
Athan’s journey began when he was just 6 months old. After the large tumor was found on his liver, Athan was placed on the transplant list. On Oct. 29, 2019, just before his second birthday, the family received the call and Athan received his new liver the following day.
The family reports that although his new liver is in “great shape,” Athan has ongoing health issues that require a lot of time traveling and visiting specialists. The family said, “He has therapy appointments weekly, multiple genetics appointments, scans for cancer every three months, transplant clinic each month, orthopedic appointments to watch his legs and spine and they recently added behavioral therapy to his list for his anxiety.”
Saturday’s benefit ride is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Cullman VFW, 112 Veterans Drive SW in Cullman. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m., with kickstands up at 11. The cost is $25 per bike and $10 per rider.
Regulators MC North Alabama Chapter President H.B. said that any decision to possibly postpone and reschedule the event due to rain will be made Friday as he continues to watch the forecast for Hurricane Delta. “I can’t risk the lives of other people,” he said.
As of right now, the event is a go, and after the ride, there will be a 50/50 raffle as well as a raffle for a variety of items donated to help the Landman family.
