HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The City of Hanceville hosted its annual Kids Night Out Saturday at C.W. Day Park. Although traditionally held before the start of the school year, this year’s event was pushed back due to uncertainty regarding COVID-19. Regardless of the delay, families filled the park and enjoyed an evening of fun, food, fire trucks and fireworks.
Families were treated to their choice of Chick-fil-A sandwiches, hot dogs or Domino’s Pizza thanks to event sponsors. Drinks, ice cream and Cha Cha’s Shaved Ice were also free for all the kids.
Emergency responders showed off vehicles and equipment. On hand were officers from Hanceville Fire and Rescue, the Hanceville Police Department, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the Cullman Police Department and Cullman EMS, along with and Good Hope, Logan, Bethsadia, Vinemont-Providence, Bangor (Blount County), Crane Hill and Johnson’s Crossing Volunteer Fire Departments. The Bangor Volunteer Fire Department brought Max the fire station dog, who visited with the kids.
The night also included horses, bouncy houses, train rides, free swimming at the Hanceville pool and the popular mechanical bull. The night concluded with a firework show!
Said Mayor Kenneth Nail, “With so many canceled events this year, the City just wanted to give everybody something extra special.”
