GARDEN CITY, Ala. – The Garden City Town Council on Monday night approved the lease for a new boutique in town. Keith Sanders brought the request before the council, and after some discussion, it was approved. The boutique will be in a house directly across U.S. Highway 31 from the municipal building. The council approved the deal with the stipulation that the outside of the property be maintained and kept orderly.

The council discussed options for the Garden City Elementary School building after council members visited and evaluated the facility earlier this month. They considered several options for what to do with the building, which is now a Town property, before ultimately tabling the discussion to be continued later.

The council also heard from township deputy, Sgt. Jeff Rainwater, who warned of recent thefts in the county. He specifically mentioned riding lawnmowers, trailers, four wheelers and vehicles. He said he wanted to alert everyone to be more careful locking up and storing their vehicles.

The Garden City Town Council’s next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at Garden City Town Hall.
