HANCEVILLE, Ala.- The City of Hanceville on Friday morning cut the ribbon at Walk in the Dream, an organization that offers career advising to high school students, young adults and single parents. Hanceville Mayor Kenneth Nail and Colony Mayor Donnis Leeth joined in on the celebration.

Walk in the Dream Founder/CEO/Life Coach Anderia Kim Carwell, a 1989 graduate of Hanceville High School, said she is excited to bring her expertise home to Cullman County and hopes to begin helping those in high school, while also assisting veterans and other young adults.

Carwell said she is dedicated to helping young people who are trying to figure out what they want to do in life, sharing, “Is it, I am going to college? Is it, I am going into the military or the workforce? For me, I can work with them in every area because I have done that. I’ve been director of admissions for a college. I’ve been director of career services, and I was in the military for 26 years.”

Carwell said she hopes to guide young people to success.

“I am praying everything goes well,” she said. “I’m walking by faith here because God gave me the vision.”

She added, “We are going to help them as far as the admissions process and understanding what they want to do before applying to any of those (college, military or workforce). Everything starts with a plan. You have to have a plan, and once you have a plan then you take that plan and put it into action. Put the plan into action then you go ahead and pursue that plan and then when you pursue it, you can achieve it. That’s my plan.”

Walk in the Dream will also help young adults, veterans and single parents with career planning, resume building and other needs.

It will offer a variety of classes and programs after school and on Saturdays beginning Oct. 3. The office is open now Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Walk in the Dream offers a six-month program for $499. The office is located in the Joann Walls Center at 107 Bangor Street, Suite B in Hanceville.
