Carol Marie Preston Doty, 73, of Good Hope passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020 at her residence after a long hard battle with cancer. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio Oct. 1, 1946 to Reuben and Betty Preston.
She was preceded in death by her parents and twin brother Richard Preston.
Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Dennis Doty; sister Patty (Jim) Grier, of Vinemont; and brother Ken (Marilyn) Preston, of Ann Arbor, MI; nieces Casey Grier (Markus) Doering, of Cullman, Ashley Grier White, of Huntsville, and Mira Preston, of Chicago, IL; nephew, Ari (Ashley) Preston, of East Montpelier, VT; grand-nieces Olivia White and Julia White, both of Huntsville; grand-nephew Alexander Doering, of Cullman; her constant canine companion, “Leo:” as well as other family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Carol died with her husband and family members at her bedside. Her enduring love for her husband, her high school sweetheart who she had reconnected with and married 33 years after their graduation, was a family legend. She loved to cook and garden, but most of all she loved people of all walks of life and enjoyed organizing social gatherings that brought people together in common cause. She will be remembered most by those whose lives she touched for her unending compassion, kindness, and generosity.
A private family graveside internment of ashes ceremony was conducted Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020 at Cullman City Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a to-be-determined future time and place.
