CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Animal Shelter’s Donna Ruttkay shares The Cullman Tribune Pet of the Week:

Quincy is a 1-year-old Golden Retriever/Collie mix. He’s a laid-back, low- to medium-energy pet with great leash skills and good spatial awareness. He’s flexible in his tastes, just happy to be wherever his people are. Ruttkay calls him “a friend for a lifetime!”

Quincy has the makings of a good therapy or companion/reading dog.

Quincy’s adoption fee is $100 which includes DHLPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccines, rabies vaccine, wormer, general exam at the vet, neutering, microchip, free 30-day health insurance policy issued by 24PetWatch (with valid email only) and a free bag of food from Cullman Pet Depot (you must pay sales tax).

Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior. Several of the shelter’s canine friends have even been “hired” to work as therapy and special needs service dogs.

Please consider adopting, to give a rescued pet a chance at a happy and healthy life.

Contact the Cullman County Animal Shelter at 256-734-5448 or cullmancountyanimalshelter@gmail.com. Visit the shelter at 935 Convent Road NE.

Good news!

Ruttkay reported that former Pet of the Week Cupid, who has working hard as a nanny to several of the shelter’s newer pups, and as an ambassador for the shelter to community organizations, has finally found a forever home of her own.

Ruttkay said, “Cupid was the perfect ‘aunt’ who assisted with the rehabilitation of Kipper, Sprout and Clementine, who were all adopted! When her work was complete, the perfect family appeared. Cupid will be spoiled, living inside, in air conditioning, taking care of her new momma!”
