Clora Christine Carter, 92, of Double Springs entered into rest Friday, Aug. 21, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Sept. 4, 1927 in Double Springs, Alabama.
Christine was a loving mother, who loved her kids and grandkids and loved being a housewife. She enjoyed canning, gardening and working in her flower gardens tending her roses. She loved going to church and reading her Bible every morning.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020 from noon-2 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs, where the service will begin at 2 p.m. Brother T.J. Millican and Brother James Hood will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Double Springs.
Christine is survived by her sons Thomas Freeman and his wife Connie, Billy Carter and his wife Sandra, Teddy Carter and his wife Marylynn, and Allen Carter and his wife Angie; daughters Retia Walker and her husband Tinsley, Anita Benford and her husband Lonzo ,and Freda Salter and her husband Timmy; 23 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents John Riley Overton and Sarah Elizabeth Hicks Overton; her husband O.D. Carter; sisters Flovia Hill, Lucy Thomas, and Ozzie Bennett; brothers John Overton, Leldon Overton, Alvin Overton, Jack Overton and James Overton; and great-grandson Adam Hendrix.
