TRINITY, Ala. — The Good Hope Raiders hit the road Thursday night to face West Morgan and took home their first win of the season after knocking off the Rebels 47-19.
The game started out with the Rebels winning the toss and electing to receive the ball, but their opening possession was quickly stopped by the Raiders. The Raiders took possession after forcing and recovering a fumble that put them on the Rebels’ 29-yard line. Tanner Malin and the offense took the field and scored in just five plays to give the Raiders an early 7-0 lead in the opening frame.
The Raiders continued to put more space between themselves and the Rebels by doing what they’ve worked on all summer long on and that’s execution on both sides of the ball. As a result, Good Hope went into the halftime break leading the way 27-7.
The Raiders continued to pour it on in the second half, riding momentum on both sides of the ball and pulling ahead 40-7 before Coach Alan Scott and his staff brought in some younger talent to wrap things up. The younger guys brought things home and secured a 47-19 road win for Good Hope to open the season 1-0.
I would say these guys worked hard in the offseason and came together not only as a team but as a family. It was an awesome opener and look forward to yet another awesome year with the Good Hope Raiders football program.
It’s a great day to be a Raider!
