BAILEYTON, Ala.– As the Aug. 25, 2020 Municipal Election approaches, The Tribune is holding Q&A sessions between candidates.
In Baileyton, voters will be choosing new council members. In place 5, Greg Griffin is seeking re-election and will face challenger Pat Dyar.
Why did you choose to run in the 2020 race?
Griffin: “I have had the honor of being a councilman in the Town of Baileyton for the last eight years. I have been able to see a lot of changes in that time, but I see more that needs to be done for the betterment of the town.”
Dyar: “I chose to run because I want to keep our senior center going. It has been very successful and I want to make sure that it continues to be. I also want to make sure our annual Christmas program for the community and the kids continues.”
What would you like to do for Baileyton in the next four years if re-elected/elected?
Griffin: “I would like to see the park expand with more opportunities for the children of our area. I would also like to see more transparency in our council as far as the bills and expenses. I would also like for our seniors to have more opportunity to use the senior center.”
Dyar: “I would like to continue the many great programs we already have and look into creating new programs that would benefit the people in our community. I would also like to help in seeing the completion of the town’s new town hall; I am very proud of it and I hope the people of Baileyton are, too.”
Are there any specific programs you would like to work on if re-elected/elected?
Griffin: “I would like to continue focusing on the park and our senior center as I mentioned before.”
Dyar: “I would like to continue growing our park and providing safe and fun activities for kids and families.”
Why do you think the people of Baileyton should vote for you?
Griffin: “I would like to think my record would speak for itself. It is an honor to serve the people of Baileyton and I hope to have the opportunity again.”
Dyar: “I’ve been helping the town of Baileyton for many years. Our seniors and the children of Baileyton, in particular, are important to me. I want to continue working to make sure Baileyton grows and continues to be a better place to live for everybody.”
