GOOD HOPE, Ala. – The Good Hope City Council at its meeting Monday night expressed thanks to area parents and students for making it to last week’s drive-thru Back-to-School Bash. Although a departure from the normal evening of outside fun due to COVID-19, the event was deemed a success. Councilman Greg Brown said the council grilled and served more than 200 hot dogs and hamburgers and gave away 200 T-shirts and 400 Good Hope face masks.
Grady Parsons, president of Living Water Services, praised the City’s workers for repairs to Good Hope’s manholes, saying, “They did a wonderful job!”
He told the council he estimates that by doing the repairs itself, the City saved at least $25,000-$30,000.
“It’s a lot of work that nobody sees that much,” he said, “but makes a big difference.”
Councilman Taft Dillashaw was happy to report the City’s ball fields have been rented throughout August and September by travel teams and for football.
Smiled Dillashaw, “That’s good news!”
The council also approved the annual agreement with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office for the City’s deputy for $40,000.
The next council meeting will be Aug. 24 at 6:30 p.m.
