CULLMAN – A couple was charged with one count each of cruelty to animals – second degree on Thursday, following complaints by neighbors, according to the Cullman County Animal Control Division.

Tim McKoy, CCACD, said both Edwin Emanuel Brenner and Tangy Bodie were arrested in connection with the alleged starvation of a dog. The incident occurred on County Road 1854.

McKoy described the dog as “very emaciated” and said, “both the male and female were charged that lived at the residence. At this time, it is still an ongoing investigation. (The) arrest was made by (the) Cullman County Animal Control Division and (the) Cullman County Sheriff’s office.”

Both have been charged with 13a-11-241 cruelty in the second degree (deprived of necessary sustenance), which is a Class A misdemeanor that carries a $1,000 property bond.
