CULLMAN – As winter fades away and spring is ushered in, so, too, does the overwhelming amount of pastel-colored everything. But, the Color Me Cullman 5K with bring bolder colors than pastels, and a message of happiness and healthiness to get people out of the doldrums of winter.

The 5K event will take place at Sportsman Lake Park on April 9 at 8 a.m. Registration will be available the day of the event beginning as early as 6 a.m., but register by March 23 to avoid the late fee. With registration comes a Color Me Cullman t-shirt and a color packet. The cost is $30 for adults and $15 for children ages 6-12. Children under age 6 can run for free.

With a focus on “happiness and healthiness,” the run will be untimed, and there will be four different color stations for the runners to “get plastered in color.”

Concession stands will be open at Sportsman Lake Park during the event. There will also be a table set up where runners and attendees can purchase extra event T-shirts and color packets. Police will be on hand to ensure the safety of all in attendance.

“We feel that (the Color Me Cullman 5K) helps the community by giving something fun and healthy for families and people of all ages to do,” said Sara Teichmiller, Cullman County Parks and Recreation director of marketing.
