William Larry Dunlap, 70, of Cullman passed away June 5, 2020 at McGuffey Healthcare in Gadsden, Alabama.
Born July 24, 1949, Larry was a decorated Vietnam War Veteran with the following honors: Bronze Star Medal (2), Purple Heart (2), Army Commendation Medal (2), Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Larry worked hard for many years traveling the country and going to other countries with his work. He founded his family’s business in 1981, D&D Coach, with his father and two brothers where they drove countless bands, musicians, and other celebrities across the country. He also worked for Drummond LTD in Columbia, South America up until 1999. He married his wife Joan in 1981 and they later had two beautiful daughters, Elizabeth and Stephanie. In 2008, he and Joan moved to Taos, New Mexico for a few years until they returned to Cullman in 2016. He lived a very colorful life filled with many stories and adventures.
Larry is proceeded in death by his parents William Clifton Dunlap and Iva Lee “Boots” Dunlap and brother David Lee.
He is survived by his wife Joan; their two daughters Elizabeth (Kirk) Knudsen and Stephanie (Josh) Wiggins; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; two brothers Tim (Tammie) Dunlap and Phillip Dunlap; nephews Kyle Dunlap and Alex Dunlap; and his favorite dog Buddy.
The family wishes to recognize and thank the staff at McGuffey Healthcare in Gadsden and Kindred Hospice who loved and cared for Larry. A private memorial service will be at a later date.
