HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The City of Hanceville is moving forward with its planned Sept. 19 concert at Veterans Park. The popular country/Southern rock group Confederate Railroad will headline the show, with The Tommy Crowder Band and Willie Underwood also performing.
The Hanceville City Council approved a special event license for the show, requested by the City’s Alcohol Review Committee, so beer will be served at the concert with Cabin Fever Beverages Owner Kolby Lawrence overseeing the alcohol sales. Food trucks will also be on-site. Pre-sale general admission tickets will be $20 and VIP tickets for up-front seating will be $40. VIP seating also includes a separate bathroom, souvenir seat and VIP parking. The City will announce further details, including show times and where to purchase tickets.
This will be the second concert with alcohol sales in the city of Hanceville.
Mayor Kenneth Nail said, “The folks that showed up last year had a good time and Kolby did a great job. I didn’t hear the first complaint about any problems.”
Councilman Charles Allen announced this year’s Hanceville Antique Tractor & Engine Show has been canceled. This year would have been the 22nd year for the show, normally held in June on the Wallace State Community College campus.
“We aren’t going to be able to have it,” said Allen. “I’m sure it wasn’t her (Wallace State President Dr. Vicki Karolewics); she is always excellent to work with and always told us to have at it. But, for whatever reason, we can’t use the campus.”
Nail offered Veterans Park as a substitute location for this year’s tractor show, but with this year’s event being a state show expecting a large crowd, Allen said he felt they did not have time to change the venue.
He said, “We won’t be able to have it but will plan a big one for next year.”
The City of Hanceville will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Friday morning at 10 a.m. for the new Hanceville Senior Center. The event has been moved to the Hanceville Civic Center due to recent rain. Representatives from Governor Kay Ivey’s office, as well as officials from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) will also be on hand.
The next Hanceville City Council meeting will be June 11 at 4 p.m.
