Obituary: Vadie Laudell Davis Cockrell

Vadie Laudell Davis Cockrell, 91, of Double Springs entered into rest May 2, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

A celebration of life service will be Sunday, May 31, 2020 at 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Double Springs.  Burial and a private graveside service were held previously at Double Springs Memorial Cemetery. Reverend Phillip Twilley officiating.

Mrs. Cockrell was born Feb. 13, 1929, the last of nine children of James and Jerosha Davis, in a two-room log cabin with a dog trot. She was a faithful, longtime member of First Baptist Church, Double Springs and loved to sing hymns. She was an excellent seamstress. Laudell was a very humble and strong person.

Mrs. Cockrell is survived by her son David Cockrell and his wife Karen, along with their children Dalton, Alex and Lona; and daughter Nancy Baker and her husband Terry, along with her children Robert and Bethany Bryant.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Lee Cockrell; parents James H. and Jerosha Cagle Davis; and siblings Addie Davis Bailey, George Davis, Ellis Davis, Oscar Davis, Annie Davis Elliott, Aubrey Davis, Elmer Davis, and Agnes Davis Koon.
