CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Public Library System’s (CCPLS) main branch held a soft re-opening at the end of April and continues to offer no-contact pick-up services.

“We still have the no-contact pick-up system in place,” said CCPLS Assistant Director Josie Harrington. “Right now, it’s a process of calling or emailing the library to let us know what material you would like. We’ll agree upon a pick-up time frame and place those items in a locker and give the patron the combination to that locker. We’re working on an online form that might streamline this process.”

The lockers are located in front of the Cullman branch’s building at 200 Clark St. NE.

“We have had a ‘soft opening’ in which we have opened with certain limitations,” Harrington said. “We are attempting to follow CDC guidelines by requesting patrons stay at least 6 feet apart, only allowing a limited number of patrons in the library at a time, and recommending the use of face coverings. Right now, we also have limited hours: Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., though we are hoping to resume our normal hours in June.”

Harrington continued, “We’ve also reduced the number of available public computers and covered them with plastic that we regularly wipe down and change out each day.”

Summer events at the library will look a bit different this year.

“We are also currently working on planning our Summer Learning Program,” she said. “Because of COVID-19, it will be a bit different than previous years, with take-home activities and such, but we will still have reading logs and prizes as always.
