CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Revenue Office on Monday morning opened a tent outside the Cullman County Courthouse in an effort to begin servicing the citizens of Cullman County again in person.
Revenue Commissioner Barry Willingham said, “We are out in the parking lot. I told the commission a couple of weeks ago if they wouldn’t be opening up, I was about ready to set up a tent outside, so that’s what I did.”
All services handled by the revenue office are available at the outside tent.
“Tag, title, property tax; you name it,” said Willingham. Tomorrow we will be under the pavilion at the south entrance. People can get out of their cars and walk up.”
The commissioner does remind citizens to remain mindful of social distancing.
The satellite offices in Baileyton and Dodge City also opened Monday morning, but only two people can enter the offices at a time and there will be someone at each location to monitor traffic in and out of the buildings.
Willingham added, “We are stopping people before they come in the door and checking paperwork and telling them to wait in their car if they need to.”
The satellite offices are open from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and closed for lunch.
The tent at the Cullman County Courthouse went up Monday morning at 8 a.m. and will remain open until around 4 p.m. daily through Friday, weather-permitting.
Said Willingham Monday afternoon, “We will likely have to shut down early today because some weather is coming in. We will be shutting down, even on a good day, around 4 just so we can take down all the equipment and stuff.”
