CULLMAN, Ala. – The North Alabama Agriplex normally has a bounty of programs for children and adults to enjoy. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, that schedule has been disrupted. The Tribune spoke with Agriplex Director Rachel Dawsey for an update.

“All of April is canceled,” she said. “We are waiting to see about May. For Earth Day, we had to cancel at Cullman City Primary School for Earth Day on the 22nd, so we’ve been sending alternative resources for the teachers. We have been posting a lot to our social media from other agencies’ resources.”

But while programming may be paused for the moment, the Agriplex has introduced the Cullman Grown Drive Up Market, an online farmers’ market with drive-thru produce pickup to help consumers as well as local farmers.

How does it work?

“We distribute produce from local farmers. You order the produce you want from Monday noon to Tuesday noon and you can pick up your order Wednesday between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Alabama Agriplex. The products we distribute change week by week – depending on the weather and availability.”

The Agriplex is located at 1714 Tally Ho St. SW, Cullman, AL 35055.

Dawsey encouraged those interested to stay up-to-date on the market and other resources the Agriplex posts by following its Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/NorthAlabamaAgriplex.
