Obituary: Jerry O’Neal Caudle

Jerry O’Neal Caudle, 86, of Cullman passed away April 15 at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Caudle was born Sept. 3, 1933. Mr. Caudle served his country in the United States Air Force, where he met and married the love of his life, Marry Ann Owens. They were married for 63 years. He worked in the space industry where he helped put a man on the moon and helped to build the James Webb Telescope, which will replace the Hubble Telescope. He served his community as a faithful member of the Lions Club for 27 years. He served as President and District Governor. He was a WSCC outstanding alumnus, where he was a lifetime member. He was a faithful and longtime member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and was active in the Alabama Emmaus Community.

Mr. Caudle was preceded in death by his parents Earl Coker and Etta Ann Caudle; brothers Earl, Ed, Charles, Tom and Noble; and sisters Caroline, Virginia and Betty.

Mr. Caudle is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann; daughters Debbie (Gary) Austin and Kathy (Dale) Wilson; grandchildren Heather (Dwain) Floyd, Amy (Boyd) Posey and Zachary (Hailey) Kilpatrick; great-grandchildren Evie Floyd; Colbi, Rawlston, and Madison Kilpatrick, and Ella and Callum Posey; special family members Blanche and Robert Lindsey; and his beloved dog Sadie Girl.

There will be a private graveside service; however, the family is planning a celebration of Mr. Caudle’s life at a later time for the family and friends.
