HARTSELLE, Ala. – When Daystar Church had to cancel the annual “Easter Egg Drop” at its Hartselle campus, members had already prepared tens of thousands of candy-filled eggs. Not wanting their efforts to be wasted and desiring to do something fun for the children of their community, they handed the prizes off to a team of what one church representative termed “Easter ninjas!”

Daystar Global Outreach Director Chris Hopper explained, “For the last several years Daystar Church has hosted an Easter Egg drop at its Hartselle Campus, and this year, due to the nature of shelter in place, the church was forced to cancel the event. Rather than letting 25,000 plastic candy- and prize-filled eggs go to waste, Daystar employed the help of a team of volunteers equipped with masks and gloves to ‘egg’ the homes of as many families as they could reach. Members of Daystar recommended families in the area they knew who had children and then teams were sent to scatter the eggs on their front lawns so the kids would be surprised the next day.”

“We knew it would be impossible to egg everyone, but we wanted to do for some what we wished we could do for all,” said Tom Watson, Daystar Hartselle campus pastor.

Hopper continued, “The most important thing we want to share is that 2,000 years ago Jesus paid the ultimate price for us all. This virus will not stop us from spreading the joy that comes from knowing the One who sacrificed everything for us this Easter. As a church we will find a way to share the greatest news anyone has ever received to as many as possible. That’s why our services continue to be streamed online at daystarathome.com as well as our Facebook and YouTube pages.”
