BREMEN, Ala. – After racking up over 2,000 career points, earning First Team All-State honors two years in a row, helping lead the Lady Eagles to a state title and a state runner-up finish the last two seasons and collecting back to back 2A Player of the Year awards, Cold Springs’ Elizabeth Hill is now preparing for the next stage of her athletic career. The Lady Eagles standout will be joining a pair of local stars, Cullman’s AK Eastman and West Point’s Miriam Oldacre, at the University of Montevallo next season to play for the Falcons and Head Coach Gary Van Atta.

Cold Springs Head Coach Tammy West has seen Hill collect a lot of accolades in her years with the Lady Eagles and she’s excited for this next stage of her career but knows she will be missed at the same time.

“I’m extremely proud of Elizabeth. She has overcome so much adversity to get where she is today. I am so excited to see what she will accomplish at the next level. Elizabeth is a rare talent,” West said. “She will be missed by everyone who has been following her during her career at Cold Springs. Lucky for us she will remain close to home. Montevallo is getting a great player in Elizabeth.”

Hill has developed a good relationship with the coaches and players at Montevallo during the recruiting process. She’s looking forward to growing as a player at the college level while also being able to stay close to home.

“It’s great because I’ve already had the chance to play with several of the other girls before in AAU. I really like Coach Van Atta, he is a great guy and I feel like he can help me become a better player,” Hill said. “I just loved Montevallo when I got to go visit. Right when I left, I wanted to go back. I will be close to my family also!”

Hill has had a chance to play against some of her new teammates as well. She’ll be on a roster with former West Point and Cullman standouts Miriam Oldacre and AK Eastman and she thinks that familiarity will only help them now that they are playing together.

“Yeah for sure. It helps that we already know each other’s game and have seen each other play.”

While Hill is obviously excited to get back on the court and compete with a new team at a new school, she admits that she had a great four years at Cold Springs and will miss her time there with her team and her community.

“I’m looking forward to playing in college because it will push me even more and I will get to experience and grow a lot,” Hill said. “I’ll miss everything about Cold Springs. I’ll miss my coaches and teammates for sure and just the community we have is unbelievable. I couldn’t have asked for a better four years.”
