The City of Cullman is saddened to hear of the passing of former Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism Director John Hunt. John served as parks and rec director for more than 22 years, retiring from the position in 2014 to pursue other goals. He oversaw many additions to the parks and recreation system including Heritage Park, Field Of Miracles and the Cullman Wellness & Aquatic Center. During his time as director, the department grew tremendously and won several state and national awards. John always greeted everyone with a smile. He was an extraordinary person to be around and will be greatly missed. The City of Cullman extends its sincere condolences to his family and friends.
