Sherry Ann Godbee Luker, 76, of Cullman entered into rest Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Luker was born Oct. 25, 1943 to Berlis M. “Bert” Godbee and Helen Parris Godbee.

Sherry was a retired and accomplished poultry farmer for Gold Kist and homemaker.  She was one of the greatest gardeners her friends and family had ever known.  She grew beautiful flowers and designed stunning landscapes.  Sherry was a great cook, having learned from her grandmother Minnie Godbee.  She delighted in feeding others.  She was a loving, devoted mother and wife.  Though working hard and busy days with her farm, she never missed any event in which her children were involved.  She was so proud of and adored her twin grandsons, and the name she loved most was “Nana.”  Sherry was a lifetime member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and a longtime resident of the Nesmith community.

Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020 from 6-8 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in the Nesmith community, where the funeral service will be held Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 2 p.m. She will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Brother Chris Godbee and Brother Junior Garmon will officiate.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Sherry leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 58 years Tommy Frank Luker; son Tommy Jabron Luker; daughter Melisa (Phillip) Privett; grandson, Colby (Kristee) McNeal and Lukas McNeal; sister Regina (Glen) Skinner; loving aunts Hazel Godbee Cupp Haynes and Keneith Godbee Tolbert; sister-in-law Mary (Butch) Aderhold; brother-in-law James (Sandy) Luker; and a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bert Godbee and Helen Parris Godbee Andrews and her father-in-law and mother-in-law Frank Luker and Iris Sterling Luker.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southern Care Hospice or Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
