GOOD HOPE, Ala. – Kali Madison Davis was crowned Miss Scarlet Sweetheart at Good Hope High School this past Saturday. The inaugural Miss Scarlet Sweetheart Pageant was hosted by the Good Hope High School English Department while the Raider Marching Band hosted a beauty expo in the band room.Ā
The event was a collaborative effort.Ā The pageant was a fundraiser for the English Department as it continues to bring beneficial alternative seating to its classrooms. The GHHS Band is raising money for new marching band uniforms. The schoolās scholarsā bowl team sold concessions to raise money for its upcoming trip to St. Louis for national scholarsā bowl competition.
Girls from ages 0 to 19 competed in the pageantās different age groups. Good Hope High School English Department Chair Anita Whitlock organized the pageant and was pleased with the response and the number of girls who registered.Ā
Three-year-old Brayleigh Smith came with her proud parents, Nathan and Samantha Smith from Fairview. Brayleigh is new to pageants but was all smiles as she took home Crowd Favorite in the Toddler Miss division.Ā
Whitlock was proud of the cooperative efforts of the different school organizations to make the pageant a success.
āWe are so proud of our students,ā she said. āIt is such a pleasure to work with them. I am 20 years in, and I am still in love with teaching.ā
