Obituary: Cleon Powell

Cleon Gwendolyn Denson Powell, 95, of Addison, entered into rest Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Cleon was born Jan. 27, 1925 in Helicon, Alabama. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed singing, playing the piano by ear, fa so la singing, quilting, gardening, watching Alabama and Auburn football, tap dancing, buck dancing and playing domino train.

Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 31, 2020 from 6-8 p.m. at Addison First Baptist Church and Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 from 1-2 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Addison. Brother Kenny Sudduth will officiate.

Cleon is survived by her sons Dickie (Sherry) Powell, Randy (Brenda) Powell, and Timmie (Connie) Powell; daughters Melanie (Jerry) Geddie and Veronica (Mike) Long; grandchildren Jonathan (Scott) Powell, Jamie (Juli) Powell, Jason Powell, Jeremy (Becky) Powell, Melissa (Scott) Wimberly, Anthony (Bethany) Powell, Tim (Gina) Wade, Todd (Lori) Wade, Tara (Ray) Yarbrough, Meg Geddie, Allen (Tonia) Long and Mallory (Heath) Hood; 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Olen Powell; son Olen Daniel Powell Jr.; daughter Annette Wade; grandsons Brian Eddy and Ty Wade; parents Evan Denson and Minnie Wilkins Denson; brothers Travis Denson, James Denson, Edsel Denson and Victor Denson; and sisters Reedie Evans, Arvie Wood, Iva Cleghorn, Hazel Godbee, Millie Knight and Faye Bodine.
