DECATUR – The Cullman Bearcats jumped out to an early six-point lead thanks to accurate outside shooting Tuesday night when they traveled to Decatur to take on the Decatur Red Raiders. The 6-0 run was instrumental in Cullman taking a 14-7 advantage after one quarter of play.

Decatur opened the second with a 5-0 run to cut the Cullman lead to just two early in the quarter. However, Cullman continued to play their fast-paced type of basketball and pushed the lead back to five, 23-18, going to halftime.

The third quarter was an intense, back and forth eight minutes with neither team wanting to give an inch. However, it was Cullman who would come out on top, scoring the last four points in the quarter to push their lead to eight heading to the final frame.

Although Cullman only held an eight-point lead on the fourth, the game never seemed like it was in jeopardy. The Cats slowly built on to their lead and at the four-minute mark, they froze the ball and forced Decatur to foul and made the most of their opportunities at the charity stripe going 11-18 and taking the game by a final of 58-48.

The Lady Red Raiders continued to pressure Cullman in the third, further cutting into the Lady Cat lead and trailed by just two heading to the fourth.

Decatur quickly grabbed the lead from Cullman thanks to a quarter-opening 6-0 run. Cullman came roaring back and tied the game at the 3:33 mark of the fourth quarter. Decatur would storm back with five straight but Cullman would once again tie the game with 1:40 left to play.
