VINEMONT, Ala. – The Vinemont Town Council at its meeting Tuesday night joined municipalities across Cullman County in proclaiming January Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
“If we see something that could be questionable,” said Mayor Radginal Dodson, “make sure you get in touch with local law enforcement.”
The council also passed an ordinance relocating its voting precinct for municipal elections from town hall to the Vinemont Community Center (old Scout House). It had previously moved the voting precinct to the community center for all other elections. The Alabama Primary will be March 3, 2020. The next municipal election is set for Aug. 25, 2020.
Facility improvements at the Vinemont Sports Complex are nearing completion just in time for baseball and softball sign-ups. Registration begins Friday, Jan. 17 and runs through Feb. 21. Kids ages 3-12 are eligible to sign up. Registration can be completed online at www.townofsouthvinemont.com or at Vinemont Town Hall.
Plans are in the works for a 2020 Census event April 11 at the community center. The Town will provide food, bouncy houses and other activities. Volunteers will be on hand to help in the process.
The council approved two bill payments, the first to Larry Cooke for audit services. Cooke was scheduled to present the audit findings at Tuesday night’s meeting but was unable to attend due to illness. The second was a payment for the Town’s municipal workers compensation bill.
The Vinemont Town Council meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at Vinemont Town Hall.
