CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Animal Shelter’s Donna Ruttkay wished to start by thanking folks from around the community who made Christmas special for the shelter’s pets, saying, “With love attached, caring folk dropped off terrific donations: treats of all kinds: specialty/organic/milk bones towels, blankets, beds, leashes, collars, coats and toys.”
Ruttkay now shares a bonus Cullman Tribune Pet of the Week:
Bennett is a 6-month-old hound mix. He’s a lively-but-not-crazy medium-energy pup who definitely prefers the outdoors to his shelter kennel. He likes to explore the yard at the shelter, but comes quickly when called. He loves human companionship, enjoys learning new things and is developing good social skills. Ruttkay describes him as being “like a lump of clay eager to be molded.”
And if you’re a backyard ball player, Bennett’s ready to be on your team!
Bennett has the makings of a great hiking, companion or therapy dog.
Bennett’s adoption fee is $90 which includes: DHLPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccines, rabies vaccine, wormer, general exam at the vet, neutering, microchip, free 30-day health insurance policy issued by 24PetWatch (with valid email only) and a free bag of food from Cullman Pet Depot (you must pay sales tax).
Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior. Several of the shelter’s dogs have even been “hired” to work as therapy and special needs service dogs.
Please consider adopting, to give a rescued pet a chance at a happy and healthy life.
