BAILEYTON, Ala. – Kids young and old gathered Saturday evening at the Baileyton Community/Senior Center for the town’s annual Christmas party.

“We had a super Christmas this year,” Pat Dyar, wife of Baileyton Mayor Johnny Dyar, said, adding that this year’s party was the biggest one yet.

Despite many other events taking place in Cullman County Saturday night, families opted to spend time with their neighbors for a night of fellowship, fun and tons of laughs. Dyar thanked Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry for allowing the town to use his giant grill. There were plenty of hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks and goodies for everyone.

The kids played with toys and games they picked out after a visit with Santa Claus, who found time in his busy schedule to visit Baileyton. Seven lucky children, whose names were drawn randomly, took home giant teddy bears. There were donated socks, shoes, coats and other clothing items for families to choose from also.

Two generous donors gave 100 new fleece blankets, making sure everyone had something to take home this Christmas.

Dyar said, “So many people came together to make this year’s party wonderful.”

Dyar did not mention herself, but she was instrumental in decorating the center with many festive trees and decorations. She worked tirelessly to give the community a special night. She did want to thank the Parkside Outreach Program for its generosity and support.

Dyar also thanked Mr. and Mrs. Gene Sumner, Danny Arrington, Patricia Gilbert, Roger and Pam Moats, the Honor Network, John Dyar, Randy Gaines, Mary Catherine Gilbert, Bobby and Brandi Walker, Mayor Johnny Dyar, Baileyton Town Council members and their families and Tom and Linda from the senior center for their help.
