CULLMAN, Ala. – The 28th annual Dr. Herman C. Ensor Lights of Love ceremony took place at Cullman Regional Thursday evening. This year’s ceremony was dedicated in memory of Amy Drake, who passed away in September at the age of 42. Organizers honored and paid tribute to Drake during the ceremony, with Drake’s daughter, Siddalee Drake, given the honor of lighting this year’s Christmas tree. Before lighting the tree, attendees sang Silent Night.

During the program, Cullman Regional Foundation Board Member Jackie Porter honored Ensor, saying, “Dr. Ensor initiated Lights of Love in 1991, and in 2010 the Board renamed it in his honor. His legacy continues tonight with the tree lighting and ceremony honoring those who have passed.”

Of Drake Porter said, “She came into this world living out loud. She had a definite love for life. She lived everyday of her life as if it was a celebration. She was kind, and she was loving.”

The ceremony also featured musical performances from Dr. Joe Johnson, First United Methodist Children’s Choir, First United Methodist Sanctuary Choir and Dr. and Mrs. David Shupe and Ken Simpson.

Foundation Executive Director Maria Stanford then gave closing remarks before inviting those at the ceremony to attend the tree lighting.
