Funeral services for Hazel Marie Ponder, age 86 of Bremen, will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Tommy Graves officiating. Interment will be at New Prospect Cemetery.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ponder passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015 at her residence. She was born March 9, 1929 in Winston County to the late Alvin and Alice Mae Kennedy Anderson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harless Ponder; and two sisters, Floy Williams and Jewel Griffin.
Survivors include three sons, Gaylon Ponder, Ray (Judy) Ponder, and Roger (Ninet) Ponder; one daughter, Sheila ( David) Richards; eight grandchildren (Angela Woodall, Ben Ponder, Dan Ponder, Brian Ponder, Dustin Ponder, Christi Engler, Whitney Hollis, Derek Richards) and 10 great-grandchildren.
Hazel was a mother first and foremost who enjoyed large family gatherings and especially enjoyed cooking for and feeding everyone. She and Harless were community grocers in Cold Springs, AL and were home builders of more than twenty houses. They enjoyed teasing, advising and especially helping others in need.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
