FAIRVIEW, Ala. — After picking up a pair of wins last night at Vinemont, the Fairview Aggies went back home to take on East Lawrence and both varsity squads won their respective games. The Lady Aggies rolled past the Lady Eagles, 50-22, while the Aggies dominated from start to finish in a 79-41 rout of the Eagles.
Fairview 50 – East Lawrence 22 (varsity girls)
A three from both Morgan Lindsay and Katie Ball helped Fairview jump out to an 8-3 lead and four points from Jaycee Aleman, later followed by a trey by Molly McKelvy, made it 15-5 after one. East Lawrence quickly made it a six-point game to start out the second period, but the Lady Aggies quickly broke out of a cold streak in a big way when a Daisy Manasco three helped jump-start a 10-0 run that pushed the lead back to double-figures and Fairview wound up taking a 25-13 lead into the locker room.
The Lady Aggies broke the game wide open to start out the second half as they scored the first 13 points of the third period to stretch their lead to 38-13 and took a 40-15 lead into the final period. Their defense was swarming East Lawrence from start to finish, getting numerous turnovers, and that was another key reason why Fairview wound up taking the game 50-22.
McKelvy finished with 12 points for Fairview (3-0). Maci Yeager added 10 points and Emma Garcia ended up with nine. Ball, Lindsay and Manasco each added five and Aleman chipped in with four. The Lady Aggies will participate in the Encore Classic at Hartselle on Saturday.
Fairview 79 – East Lawrence 41 (varsity boys)
Fairview got a quick layup from Dow Nichols less than 10 seconds into the game and that helped the Aggies get off to a quick, 9-1 lead. After East Lawrence later cut it to 11-7, the Aggies went on a 9-0 run, led by J.T. White, and it ended with a layup by Jack Brown to take a 20-9 lead into the second period.
Fairview quickly broke the game open, scoring the first 13 points of the second quarter, seven of which came from Nicholas, and pushing the lead to 33-9. East Lawrence started to chip away at Fairview’s lead a little bit, but the Aggies ended up taking a 40-22 lead into the locker room at the half.
Any chance of an Eagle run was quickly gone early in the second half as Austin Turner and Nichols scored the first eight points of the third to increase the lead to 48-26 and they wound up taking a 61-32 lead into the final period. Fairview never let East Lawrence into the contest or within single digits the rest of the game and pulled away to win the game by a comfortable margin, 79-41.
Nichols led the way for Fairview (3-0) with 17 points. White added 14 points and six rebounds. Turner ended up with 12 points, eight rebounds and a pair of steals, Preston Ryan added nine points, five rebounds and four steals and Austin Jackson chipped in with nine points and a steal. The Aggies will be a part of the 63rd Annual Holly Pond Thanksgiving Tournament starting on Monday.
