GOOD HOPE, Ala. – Things are heating up for the senior citizen community in Good Hope. A new program, Sizzlin’ Seniors, kicked off Tuesday morning at Good Hope City Hall, where several rounds of bingo were played, after which the group had lunch and partook in a fun painting party.
The Sizzlin’ Seniors group, for those ages 55 and older, will meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.
Good Hope City Councilman Greg Brown said the group will embark on several “mystery trips” in the coming months.
“We’ll leave on the big bus, go somewhere, I can’t say where cause it’s a mystery! But we’ll go out and eat and then we’ll come back,” he smiled.
The first mystery trip will be Friday, Nov. 1, when the bus will depart from Good Hope City Hall at 8 a.m. The cost to go on the mystery trips is $50.
The next Sizzlin’ Seniors meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 29, when a costume contest and small Halloween party will be the theme. The winner of the costume contest will win free admission to a future mystery trip.
Good Hope Mayor Jerry Bartlett noted that mystery trips will be every other month.
“This whole thing is for y’all. It’s about the fellowship,” said Bartlett.
Each meeting will feature activities and a free lunch for those who attend.
The first November meeting will be Nov. 12. RSVP by calling Good Hope City Hall at 256-739-3757.
