DORA, Ala. – The West Point Warriors were coming off a tough, 42-7 loss at home against top-ranked Jasper last week when they arrived in Dora Friday night looking to bounce back with a big region win.

The Bulldogs scored on a 48-yard touchdown to take an early 7-0 lead in the opening quarter and maintained that advantage by the start of the second. After a mostly scoreless second quarter, West Point got on the board with a 7-yard touchdown run from Brodie Rusk and Logan Selby’s extra point tied the game with just 33 seconds remaining in the half. The teams went into the halftime break knotted at 7 apiece.

The Warriors started the second half on the right foot, taking the opening possession and scoring on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Will Cochran to Will Brown. The score made it 14-7 with a little over nine minutes remaining in the third. Dora managed to tie the game at 14 with an 11-yard touchdown run midway through the third and the score stayed locked at 14 at the start of the final frame.

The Bulldogs moved back in front 21-14 early in the fourth quarter with a 5-yard touchdown run but West Point answered on its ensuing possession. A 3-yard touchdown run from Cochran tied the game at 21 with just under nine minutes to play. The game stayed tied deep into the fourth quarter until a muffed punt from the Bulldogs set the Warriors up with great field position and Cochran capped off a game-winning drive with an 11-yard touchdown run that gave West Point a 28-21 lead with just a minute left to play. Levi Farley picked off a pass to seal the deal on the ensuing Dora possession and the Warriors left Horace Roberts Field with a critical region win.

West Point improves to 3-4 on the season with the road win and the Warriors return home next week to host another region foe in Corner.
