CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman Power Board (CPB) on Tuesday showed appreciation to the community with its annual “Powerfest” event, providing a free meal and door prizes for the public.
CPB General Manager Mike Manning shared what Powerfest is about.
“We’re glad to have Cullman Powerfest once a year and it’s a great time show our appreciation to our customers,” he said. “We’re a public power community and we certainly value and appreciate the opportunity to serve our customers. This event enables everyone to come out and have a great day with some wonderful door prizes, fellowship and we just want to thank everybody for coming and being a part of it!”
Manning talked about the history of the event, saying, “It’s probably been about five years (since the event started), or somewhere like that and the name Powerfest came- it used to be Public Power Day, Public Power Week- and it still is, but we changed the name to Powerfest because we used to coincide with Oktoberfest so we just missed it about by one week, unfortunately.”
The cooler weather made the event extra enjoyable for everyone involved.
“We postponed it this year for cooler weather, and it’s so much more enjoyable outside and folks are really enjoying it,” said Manning. “We want to again thank all the people that came out today. Thanks to Desperation Church for cooking the hamburgers, and they do such a wonderful job with that. Everybody loves the good food and the fellowship.”
