Roy Milford Burgess, 83, of Lacey Springs and formerly of Holly Pond, passed away Friday, November 20, 2015.
Mr. Burgess was born September 27, 1932, in Cullman County, Alabama, to Virgil D. and Sadie Bell Daniel Burgess. Mr. Burgess worked with sheet metal and was employed by Brown Engineering and Teledyne.
He served our country with pride on active duty with the U. S. Army and Reserve and was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Mary Louise Peterson Burgess; sons and daughters-in-law: Billy (Brenda) Burgess and Dennis (Vicky) Burgess; daughters and sons-in-law: Debbie (Paul) Crawford and Brenda (Mike) Maynard; grandchildren: Stephanie (Kenny) Eddleman, Micheal (Jessica) Burgess, Stacy (Anthony) Foster, Nicholas Burgess, Jackie Wright, and Jesse Maynard; great-grandchildren: Samantha and Racheal Burgess, Cooper Wright, Hunter Riddle, and Lilly Foster; brothers: Norman and Marshall Burgess; sister: Dorothy Eason. He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Danny Burgess; and brother: Fred Burgess.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 22, 2015, from 6 p.m. through 8 p.m. at Holly Pond Funeral Home.
The funeral will be Monday, November 23, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Corinth Baptist Church, with a viewing at the church from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Burial will be in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery, with Holly Pond Funeral Home directing.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice.
